Why use FIBC ‘Bulk Bag’ filling systems?
Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers (FIBC) are typically made of strong, woven polypropylene fabric. Immensely popular as a cost-effective replacement for drums, FIBCs (also known as ‘big bags’, ‘bulk bags’ and ‘jumbo bags’) make it easier to handle, transport and store free flowing materials such as sand, gravel, minerals, and other powdered or granular options.
Bulk bags require no complicated assembly, are stackable once filled, and can be packed down to occupy very limited space when not in use. Depending on the bulk products involved, a big bag may also be refilled more than once.
A bulk bag filling frame is specifically designed for use with bulk bags, rated for the specific weight and handling required by your operations. The fill station can be tailored for specific use to add components for greater automation or to increase the system’s capacity.

Our systems are designed to suit bulk bags with individual fill weights between 500kg and 2000kg. Specifications for a bulk bag filling frame may include:
- Filling head: Double-walled stainless steel keeps filling efficient and dust free, de-aerating the big bag whilst filling. Outer jacket is completed by a displaced air spout for a dust extraction system, and an inflatable rubber bladder for dust-free operation.
- Bag suspension systems: Pneumatically rotatable suspension hooks for bag loops mounted on linear air cylinders with automatic, self-releasing hooks and an adjustable sweep angle.
- Integrated weighing station: Frames are integrated with load cells for accurate weighing when filling. These load cells are equipped with floating mounting points to prevent damage from side forces.
- Vibrating and lifting table assembly: A support frame which can lifted and lowered by hoist to the correct height. Manufactured from stainless steel, the table frame will lift to be in contact with the bag for added stability, then vibrate to assist effective filling.
- Pallet dispenser and shuttle: Automatic loading of pallets beneath every big bag, promoting high filling rates as the operator can work more efficiently.
These bulk bag filling stations can be compatible for big bags with or without an outlet spout, and with or without an inner liner. All components work together seamlessly to reduce waste, with optional extras to meet any specifications or operational requirements.

In addition to not being able to fit as much material per bag, uneven weight distribution threatens the ability to lift and stack bags safely for storage and transportation.
We have adopted a simple bagging concept that uses hanging, stretching, and vibrating during the bulk bag filling cycle to eliminate the risk of unstable, poorly filled bags.
